Autumn Activities for Senior Citizens in New Jersey

It’s time to enjoy some Autumn activities for Senior Citizens. Every year when the leaves change and the weather gets cooler, many New Jerseyans get away for the weekend to gather together for festivals or simply see what the Garden State has to offer.

What are good activities for Senior Citizens in the fall?

Spending time outdoors helps keep Senior Citizens healthier. So, during the Autumn months, look for outdoor activities such as apple orchards, pumpkin patches, and fall festivals.

Autumn Events for Senior Citizens:

  • Shad Festival

Date: October 9 & 10

Location: Lambertville, NJ

Enjoy local art, fantastic food, and family entertainment. At the Shad Festival, hundreds of works of art will be auctioned at the First Presbyterian Church. The silent auction is from 6:00 pm on Friday, October 8 to 4:30 pm on Sunday, October 10. The live auction starts at 2:00 pm on Sunday.

  • Crafts & Collectibles Shows

Cape May MAC will host craft festivals several weekends this fall. The shows feature artisans and vendors from across the Northeast with a different theme each weekend. For example, October 10th is Victorian Weekend. Visit the website for more details.

  • Magic & Mystery House Tour

Travel back in time in this restored Victorian Era mansion. During the tour, you can learn about 19th Century magic and mystery. Hear about famous people from Houdini to Sherlock Holmes. Tickets must be purchased in advance.

Autumn Activities for Senior Citizens:

  • Apple Picking:

New Jersey offers several different apple orchards. Crisp, delicious apples taste so much better when you pick them yourself. Check out our list of local orchards

  • Jersey Shore

Autumn is a great time for Senior Citizens to go to the beach! There are fewer crowds and less heat than in the summer months. While it might be too cold for swimming, you can enjoy strolling on the boardwalk or relaxing on the beach.

  • Pumpkin Patch

Nothing says fall like jack-o-lanterns. This time of year, local pumpkin patches offer fun activities such as hayrides and petting zoos. Choose the perfect pumpkin to carve with your loved ones.
